Seminars and Classes

Broadband Entertainment is an excellent reference book for college and high school classes. Since Broadband Entertainment covers the basics as well as the future of entertainment, the book can be used in a variety of seminars or courses revolving around entertainment.

Baylor University has a class based on the book that is titled Broadband and Human Communication. Dr. Corey Carbonara saw the book at CES 2004 and knew it was the book he'd been looking for.. Here's what Corey said about the book:

"I chose Broadband Entertainment because it is a great overview of the technologies that are revolutionizing the digital entertainment environment. Broadband Entertainment is right on target for use in my course entitled Broadband and Human Communication at Baylor University. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the course, I needed an easy-to-read text that wasn't designed for an engineer but still had a lot of richness and depth to it. Broadband Entertainment not only fit the need but exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend Broadband Entertainment to any school that wants to introduce their students to the brave new world of digital entertainment."

Corey P. Carbonara, Ph.D.
Professor, Telecommunication Division of Baylor University
Director, Digital Communication Technologies Project

The broad topics covered in the book provides the opportunity for a number of classes designed around the book. College level courses that cover most of the concepts in the book can easily be made with the help of a knowledgable instructor and Scott Kipp. From the emerging technologies in the digital home to distribution technologies, Broadband Entertainment is the perfect resource for a cutting-edge course on home entertainment and consumer electronics.

The book could supplement the second half of a production course and show students how their production will be distributed and consumed. The important and emerging issues of digital rights management could also be addressed in a full length course.

Two specific courses that could be designed around Broadband Entertainment include:
