Thanksgiving Turkeytime in Taiwan. While the first turkey was being cooked, Ahe and I went to the neighbor's little Hakkanese garden. I wanted to get a picture of her with her hands full like Ahe in the next picture, but she wanted to pose. I love her shirt that is typical fashion in Taiwan. She has probably an acre or two of land and has just planted a bunch of fruit trees. Ahe says that they'll be able to live off the fat of this land and sell enough to get by.
Vegetables grow rather thick in this field. The farmer wanted us to celebrate Thanksgiving well, so she gave us enough greens to feed the whole crew. Ahe and I went on a walk by the neighbor's house. They gave us melons and Ahe talked to the 80 year old woman for quite awhile. I told him how I rarely associate with my neighbors. Taiwanese are much more open to random discussion. The old woman had probably seen alot in here life, but her countryside had rarely changed like it has in the last few years. You can see the high rise in the background that has popped up over the last few years.
Ahe liked this view of the house and how the lines intersect. I told him how you could modify it in Photoshop real easily. The picture clarity wasn't that great though so this embossing didn't work as good as I would have liked. It did bring out the bricks well though.
We continued our journey up to the local temple. I showed Ahe some of my newest yoga poses. My arms a little bent, but the form isn't bad. We had dranken all of our tea by this time, so Ahe showed me how you could get free tea from inside the temple. He said most of the older temples have tea to drink for its visitors.
While Ahe and I messed around, Holli and Grace were busy making most of this food. Thanks for all of the hard work! The mashed potatoes were whipped up like clouds and the turkey was tender and scrumptious.
Is that your underwear Holli? The picture below was looking rather boring until I asked them to bust a move. That move turned it into a fun picture. These guys were waiting for the food with plates in hand.
Digging in the stuffing and forming the perfect mash potato pond for all that gravy. Good food and good times.
If you download these pictures and take them into the photo store, they'll print them out for $5 NT. I've been real pleased with the quality of these printers.
