Entertainment Server Standard A standard for the entertainment server is fundamental for providing a wide base of compatible standards to deliver Internet-based content. Standards are required for interoperability with content providers from around the world. Here is revision 0.1 of a standard for entertainment servers. The entertainment server will primarily use well adopted standards like MPEG-2, MPGE-4, FireWire, WiFi and commoditized hardware. The value add for manufacturer's lies in their ability to make good user interfaces including the electronic programming guides, connector selections and the best assortment of options. The entertainment server is a very powerful device and the vendor that picks the right mix of features and makes it easy-to-use will do best. The best entertainment server will probably not be the most powerful. An entertainment server that does everything will cost alot of money and may be difficult to use. Entertainment server vendors have a big job of making the device the perfect match for the most people. With technologies rapid changes, the best entertainment server will also change rapidly.
