Events The author of Broadband Entertainment, Scott Kipp, is involved in many industry and academic activities for the promotion of the concepts in Broadband Entertainment. Upcoming Events:
Past Events: January 4-5: Scott will be speaking at the Storagevisions Conference for the third year in a row. Storagevisions is the first conference at CES. Scott will be displaying the Teratelly and selling books. January 6-9th - Scott will be at booth 70626 in the Digital Content Storage Tech Zone at CES. Stop buy and pick up a copy of the book, the HDTV reports or a Teratelly. 2004 November 6th - Scott spoke at the DeVry Institute of technology to the Gaming Club. Featuring an update on the PS3 and Xbox 2, Scott focused on the future of console gaming. October 5th - Scott will be speaking about Broadband Entertainment to the Fibre Channel Industry Association in Austin, TX at the Driskill Hotel. Scott will preview the presentation that he will give at Baylor on October 8th and discuss the latest events in video like TivoToGo and Storage Area Networks. The speech will start at 7:00. October 8th - Scott will be speaking at Baylor University's Digital Home Symposium in Waco, TX. Find the press release here. Professor Corey P. Carbonara and the Telecommunications Division of Baylor are sponsoring the event that will feature many notable speakers from academia and the consumer electronics industry. The roundtable should be a lively discussion with these notable speakers: · Jim Clardy, Technical Strategist, Office of
the CTO, Digital Home Architecture Group, Dell, Inc. The event will be held in an auditorum that features HD and 7.1 Surround Sound in the Castellaw Communications building - Room 101. Baylor produces HDTV content and transmits it on their own television station. Scott's 5 minute presentation on the past, present and future of home entertainment can be found here. November 6th - Scott will be speaking at the DeVry Institute of Technologies Gaming Club. Scott will talk about the latest developments in the PS3 and Xbox2. The speech will start at 12:00. More details to come soon. September 2004 - Scott's latest work will be an evaluation of HDTV Providers that is available through the Diffusion Group. This thorough analysis of the various sources of HDTV including satellite, cable and DTT. From program offerings to HDTV personal video recorders, this report is worth more than the $1295 sticker price. August 31 - Scott spoke at Baylor University's Digital Content Creation class. Baylor's outstanding professor Corey P. Carbonara has based the class around the book that explores the creation and distribution of digital content. June 4th - The Diffusion Group releases an HDTV Primer written by Scott Kipp. This excellent overview of HDTV explains the intricacies of HDTV as well as the implications to service providers and tuner manufacturers. June 2nd - Baylor University has based a class around Scott's book called "Broadband and Human Communication". Scott spoke to the class to give them an overall perspective on the technological transformations in enterainment. Here's the presentation. May 18th - The Diffusion Group goes public. Scott has joined a group of analysts lead by Michael Greeson to analyze the broadband home market. Some of the first reports from the new group were written by Scott. How Policy Effects Consumer's View is a dBRIEF on the trouble that FCC policies have created in Digital television. From ending analog broadcasts to the ATSC tuner mandate, this paper will bring you up to speed on digital terrestrial television. May 8th - Scott spoke to the Rocky Mountain Chinese Society of Scientists and Engineers (RMCSSE). Read more about the event in this press release. April 17-19th - Scott attended the NAB show on in Las Vegas. NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) has become one of the largest shows in Vegas (CES being the biggest) that features digital TV, HDTV, web broadcasts, and production technologies. March 4th - Scott will speak at the Front Range Unix Users Group. Scott knows Mark Carlson, one of the leaders, from SNIA. FRUUG gets many local technology leaders to speak at their meetings. February 19th - Scott spoke at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Telecom Seminar on February 19th. Scott spoke in the Spring of 2003 about the future of home entertainment. January 8th-11th, 2004 - CES - The Consumer Electronics Show was a big success and many of the concepts in Broadband Entertainment are coming to life. Here's a complete review of the event. January 6-7, 2004 -Storage Visions - Scott spoke at the the Storage Visions and Home Gateway Conference. Read more here. September 21st, 2003 - New York is Book Country - Scott kicked off the release of his newest book by going to one of the world's largest book fairs. They shut down 5th Avenue for this event every year and it's spectacular.
